2012 Regular Season Standings

As we ramp up to bowl season this Saturday, I thought we would take a moment to review where everyone stands heading into bowl season.  This has been a very strong year at the top, with Tom Luginbill currently sitting on top of things at 80% right (I’m not counting SVP or Michael Smith with 4 picks).  Pat Forde has been on a tear this year, and Lou Holtz is looking good headed into bowl season thanks to Notre Dame running the table.  Most years, his Notre Dame undefeated predictions lead to his demise.  On the other end of the spectrum is rookie Brian Griese who is trying his hardest to tank this season, and Mark May who is the victim of Dr. Lou’s historic run.  I’ll be updating all week with bowl picks, so check back often because who knows when the picks might start rolling in!

Week 12 2012: Grades are posted!

My oh my, what a Saturday we had.  Flashbacks to the great 2007 season of massive upsets coming out of nowhere.  Did anybody predict both #1 and #2 would both go down within the span of an hour?  No actually.  Lou Holtz (3-2) is the only one who went out on a limb and picked Stanford over Oregon, which is strange because that was a much more likely upset than Baylor over KState.  Did anybody actually think unranked Baylor could topple #1 KState?  Yes.  Todd McShay’s (3-2) upset special was Baylor over KState, and Desmond Howard (6-3) also went with the Golden Bears to pull the upset.  This week’s guest picker Braden Pape also took Baylor to win, and posted a record of 6-5, so he might be better at singing that picking games.  Still, maybe the best guest picker of the entire year.  Lee Corso went 8-4, missing his headgear pick of Oregon obviously.  Big winner this week were Kirk Herbstreit at 11-2 and Mike Bellotti at 7-2.  I had to pull out the red pen quite a bit, and losers this week include Mark May (1-4), Colin Cowherd (2-4), and Robert Smith (4-7).  Everyone else finished in between, so check below for the full report card and see how your favorite or most hated personality did.
