Week 1 2012: SATURDAY MORNING IS HERE!

Things are officially up and running here at our compound this morning.  We’ve got the energy drinks cracked, the dual TVs running with Notre Dame/Navy on the bottom screen and College Gameday on the main screen.  As the picks roll in we will be updating things live in this post, so check back often for updates to THIS post.  If you’re anything like me, you tossed and turned all night like a little kid on the night before Christmas; so incredibly excited to see what Santa Corso will bring us this year!  While we wait for the picks to come in this morning, please enjoy the following video which is an accurate representation of how my morning has gone so far.

Week 1 2012: Friday night picks

Well ladies and gents, the picks are rolling in as I continue to play catch-up on this Friday night.  As I sit here sipping on a rum and coke, we have put together an updated spread of predictions for you below.  You can see the early week picks HERE if you want to see what has already been picked this week.  Of particular note is the fact that as of the end of our business day here on Friday night, the predictions for this week’s big game are in favor of Bama over Michigan at a staggering 15 to ZERO.  Not one of our experts so far has picked Michigan to knock off the reigning champs.  About the best you’ve heard this week if you’re rooting for the Wolverines is Todd McShay saying something non-committal like “Michigan has a chance to upset, just not much of a chance” on today’s podcast with Ivan Maisel.  For anyone that cares what Bill Plaschke thinks, he also said Michigan has a chance to upset on Around the Horn this afternoon, but I couldn’t really tell if he was calling for the upset or just trolling the rest of the panel for picking Bama.  Take it for what you will.  We’ll be back first thing in the morning with the REAL picks from the Gameday crew, so until then enjoy your evening.

2011-12 Bowl Season Results

Alright ladies and gents, with all precincts reporting and all picks tallied, the results are in.  It is official.  Your 2011-12 Bowl Pick’em champion is one Tony Reali of Around the Horn fame.  His 25-10 record was the tops of anyone who picked more than two games.  Congratulations to Tony Reali for all of his hard work.  I know that hair doesn’t grease itself up every day.

Tony Reali: Champion
Tony Reali: Bowl pick'em Champion

The final results are listed below.  For championship contention I require our experts to more than just a few games, so coming up behind Tony Reali is Bill Plaschke, with Robert Smith taking the bronze medal.  Todd McShay was last year’s winner going 20-11, so this is a much stronger year with several experts, including my girlfriend, putting up 20+ correct picks.  And of course, we have to shame some of this year’s losers.  Tim Cowlishaw brought up the rear this year, and Mike Greenberg is our only other expert who did the full bowl pick’em slate to have a losing record.  Also of note, the entire Gameday crew posted losing records (oops).  I’ll be updating pages over the next few days if you need to see everyone’s full results.  I’ll also be back to post my post-season awards once they are completed.

P.S. Yours truly went 23-12 on picks.  Just incase you were wondering.
