Week 3 was a fantastic week of college football with some big games,big names, big upsets, and big letdowns.

There were some trendy picks this week which didn’t work out which stood out to me in particular.  Everyone and their mother had Georgia Tech beating Notre Dame and covering that 2.5 point spread pretty easily.  I feel like we hear this same story every year when a big name gets matched up with Georgia Tech about how hard it is to prepare for the triple option.  While Georgia Tech is a really solid program, and the really do occasionally take down a bigger name with the triple option, I just can’t count how many times we have been warned about the triple option and then let down by the Yellow Jackets.  Our panel of expert pickers and prognosticators were 12 to 6 in favor of Georgia Tech, which was pretty heavy for a 2.5 pt spread, so let’s all point and laugh at them.

Big winners this week included Kirk Herbstreit (10-3), Chris Fallica (12-3), Phil Steele (14-5), and Greg McElroy (5-1).  However this week’s undisputed winner was none other than @GamedayJen, who dropped a 14-2 week on us with some serious knowledge.  She called UCLA to beat BYU, but BYU to also cover.  Her upset special was Ole Miss over Alabama.  She knows her stuff so give her a follow for some serious knowledge.

Losers this week included Dari Nowkhah at 4-5, who made some bold predictions for this weekend and ended up taking it in the shorts pretty hard on Twitter.  However, you won’t find a classier gentleman as he owned up to every bit of it and admits when he is wrong.  Other questionable performances came from Jason Sehorn (5-4), Mack Brown (2-2), Stanford Steve Coughlin (3-7), Brad Edwards (4-3), and Trevor Matich (4-5).  Normally we would give this week’s loss to Stanford Steve, but I just couldn’t resist giving this week’s official loss to Mark May, who went 2-2 on the week but looked incredibly smug when he made his picks.

Other notes include our celebrity guest picker Eric Church who went 6-5 on the week.  Coach Corso went a respectable 9-4 on the week, but missed out on that headgear pick going with Alabama.  Charley the Cat picked Ole Miss and takes back one week from Corso.  One curious note is that the College Gameday crew of Corso, Herbie, Desmond and Eric Church all picked Kentucky to beat Florida, while the SEC Nation crew unanimously picked Florida to beat Kentucky.  Weird.  Everyone else was somewhere in between, so check out the full slate of results below to see how your favorite (or most hated) personality did this week.
