2021-22 Season: Full season grades are finalized! Results are in!

The 2021-22 season is in the books and the picks have been graded. It is now time to crown our yearly champions.  We will be crowning two champions again this year; one champion being analysts picking games straight up and the other champion being our gambling champion. Our analyst champion will be graded on our experimental GDC grading system for the first time ever.

Without further adieu, I present to you our analyst champion for the 2021-22 season: Dennis Dodd from CBS Sports went 226-81 straight up for a percentage of 73.62% with a GDC value of 127.083! Runners up were Tom Fornelli (111.37 GDC) and Chip Patterson (100.883 GDC). That’s an all CBS Sports podium for the first time ever.

Our gambling champion for the 2021-22 season is Bud Elliott of 247 and Cover 3 podcast fame. He went 272-198-9 on the season for a win percentage of 57.87%! Several others had a higher win rate, but assuming -110 lines on average Bud Elliott absolutely crushed the competition for 49.28 units of profit this season.

Honorable mention goes to Kelly Stewart for winning our money line picks this year. She was up 25.14 units over 41 picks on the year.

Congratulations to all competitors. I hope you’ll all be back next season

2014 Mid-season standings update! #cfb #cfbplayoff #secbias

As we sit here heading into week 10 of our 2014 college football season, the first ever College Football Playoff Committee rankings came out last night.  Since the playoff committee has decided this is a good time to put out rankings, we here at Cole’s Gameday Blog have decided this is also a good time to put out the mid-season standings.  We have put together a crack team of experts for the first ever COLE’S GAMEDAY BLOG RANKING COMMITTEE!!!  Our committee members consist of myself, my wife Jennifer, a cat, two jugs of sangria wine, one copy of “The Waterboy” on DVD, a taco ten pack from Taco Bell, and a shrine dedicated to Tim Tebow.  Keep in mind that our conclusions are unofficial (as opposed to whatever else we do here) and will certainly change as the season nears completion.

What you may notice is that, just like the playoff committee, our rankings also include SEC BIAS!!!  Three of our top four competitors are from the SEC Network, which made me wonder if it is easier to pick SEC games, but Greg McElroy also picks games on the Dari & Mel show, where he not only picks other conferences, but is absolutely killing both Dari Nowkhah and Mel Kiper Jr. this season.  With so many tough games coming up in the SEC (plus bowl season), I can only imagine that the winning percentages may fall for these newcomers, but only time will tell.

So without further adieu, I present to you the rankings from our major competitors though 9 weeks of competition.

2011 Regular Season Standings

Well after 14 weeks we are through the regular season and I thought I’d stop by and post a quick update with the 2011 standings.  Lee Corso is the only expert to top the century mark with 100 correct picks on the year.  On a comical note, Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit are right behind him with 91 and 90 correct picks respectively… except that Herby has twice as many wrong picks.  Ooops.  David Pollack had a solid regular season on his first year on Gameday.  Jesse Palmer went a sharp 39-7 on the year.  Matt Stinchcomb decided to pick upsets the entire year and is the only one aside from the Schwab that I tracked with a losing record on the season.  The Celebrity Guests were pretty mediocre this year.  In past years they’ve been pretty sharp (or whoever tells them who to pick is pretty sharp) but they went 62-42.  And of course my girlfriend Jennifer was neck and neck with both David Pollack and Skip Bayless.  Not bad Jennifer.

BUT HOLD ON.  We can have big shakeups in bowl season.  I’ll be updating as the picks roll in.  Don’t be surprised to see me post an expert picking Team A over Team B, and then see me post a week later with the reverse, because everyone flip flops during bowl season as things develop.  However I’ll still post it as I see it, and as always, the last decision they make is the one going in the official record.
